Tesla Roadster Prototype Showcases SpaceX Rocket Thrusters, Promises Flying Capabilities

by admin477351

In a groundbreaking demonstration in Texas, Elon Musk has revealed a prototype of the Tesla Roadster 2 equipped with rocket-thruster technology from SpaceX. This innovative electric sports car showcased its ability to perform aerial maneuvers by driving up a curved ramp and using thrusters to land, highlighting Musk’s ambition to merge electric vehicle technology with rocket propulsion.

Musk described this prototype as a potential flying car, capable of executing rolls and other complex aerial movements using rear-mounted thrusters and altitude controls. Despite the impressive display, the demonstration was conducted remotely to mitigate safety risks, and Musk acknowledged that the vehicle might not be legal in all jurisdictions.

The Tesla Roadster 2 is slated to enter production in 2028, with a price tag expected to surpass $200,000. Tesla plans to offer different versions of the vehicle, including a performance model and a specialized variant featuring the thrust system. Additionally, a single-seat rocket version with a complete flight system is proposed to be available by invitation only.

Tesla has cautioned potential customers that the flying capabilities are not designed for use on public roads. The demonstration underscores Musk’s vision to blend cutting-edge aerospace technology with electric vehicle design, though practical applications, safety considerations, and regulatory approvals remain significant hurdles to overcome.
